Today I ran for 17 minutes, and it continues to get easier rather than harder! I'm tempted to run until I'm tired instead of just moving up a minute, but I think it's safer to ramp up slowly. Step meter says: 7296 steps today, 5103 of those "moderate" in 41 mins. 3.4 miles! Mileage this week, in reverse order: 4.1, 2.2, 3.4, 1.7, 2.5, 1.3, 2.0, 1.6. Steps this week, in reverse order, moderate in ( ): 7376 (5103), 4846 (2778), 7371 (4886), 3786 (1817), 5386 (2537), 2886 (511), 4431 (2312), 3491 (1637) I'm not steadily going up in distance each day, but the trend is up, and as long as I can keep taking more steps, and running more, I'm getting where I want to go. I would love to be able to run an hour without stopping, and run at least 5 miles. I've not given up my long-time dream of climbing Mount Rainier. That sucker is TALL though, and so just getting in shape is not enough. It's the first necessary step, though, and I do not want to give ...
Feeling like a failure. Half a run today, 25 mins, instead of my 50-minute goal. I just couldn't force myself to keep running. And tonight my thought was to make up for it by working out; didn't do that either. Yesterday my damn pedometer cheated me out of 15 mins of my run! What the hell is that about? I did run for 25 minutes, and started my day with a full ab workout, which is getting almost doable now. So progress hasn't stopped; just stalled. Whatever. Sat. July 19: 4872 (3387), 25 mins. 2.3 miles. Fri. July 18: 10575 (6479), 53 mins. 5.0 miles. Thurs. July 17: 7738 (5716), 44 mins. 3.6 miles. Wed. July 16: 8849 (4060), 33 mins. 4.1 miles. Tue. July 15: 8219 (6148), 46 mins. 3.8 miles. Mon. July 14: 7403 (3914), 32 mins. 3.5 miles. Sun. July 13: 8370 (6316), 47 mins. 3.9 miles. Sat. July 12: 10655 (7847), 60 mins. 5.0 miles. So twice this week I couldn't run my whole run, but twice this week I've done 5 miles, and over 10k steps. And for m...
Wow, I've been neglecting this blog, and even record-keeping. It isn't fun to keep track of step-count, but I have been continuing to walk as much as I can. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to push to 10k steps on average. In fact, my average is maybe 4k, and it isn't going up. (But that is about 3500 more steps than I used to have. And I've lost about 7 pounds.) Perhaps it's because I'm spending more time cleaning house -- not sure. In any case, I'm not willing to back off on 'the great cleanup' no matter what, so until I'm done -- sometime this summer or fall, probably -- tough. I love making progress on the cleanup, so that comes first. (Once the house is clean, it will be easier to keep up. Also, vacuuming is good exercise. And banishing dust makes us healthier, and feel better.) On the other hand, as my dad continues to decline, it's important to continue to make progress physically as well as getting the house de-cluttered. So...
