vs NOW

I did keep running for awhile during the summer, but at some point, after my prep for a colonoscopy & follow-up upper GI procedure, my disappointment with my lack of progress was replaced by pain and complete lack of energy to keep going. My doc was not sympathetic and instead urged me to more stretching. I took that advice, and instead of the pain meds I had been taking for years, but which resulted in a bleed in my stomach and eventually, mild anemia, I stretch, stretch, stretch.

Last month at some point I started walking and then running back and forth through the house, and eventually, running while my dental trays were in on the treadmill. Rather than focusing on mileage or speed, I'm now working to get my minutes up. Today, I ran for 15 minutes.

RootsTech is March 5–7, 2026. By then I hope to have the speed, stamina and agility to run from one end of the crowded venue to the other, in order to hear the in-person-only lectures that are on the top of my list. Since speakers have not yet been announced, dunno what they will be.

Also, I've managed to add back about 10 pounds; it would be nice to get back below 140. Ideally, I think 125 is doable, but being fit and healthy are of the utmost importance; not speed, distance or duration.
